Chapter 3 First Encounter

About five months ago, when Evelyn went to the hospital to visit a friend, she encountered Henry, who was undergoing rehabilitation. He fell in love with her at first sight, and the next day, the Taylor family received a betrothal gift from the Wilson family.
This news struck Evelyn like a thunderbolt.
Everyone in Memphis knew that Henry was a ruthless man-cold, bloodthirsty, brutal, and fierce. After his leg injury, he became even more ominous, and even his own family members feared him.
Evelyn feared him too, no matter how much she resisted, she succumbed to the greed of her family and Henry’s drastic approach, forced into the marriage.
She felt resentment and hatred, unwilling to communicate with Henry. Influenced by Mia and William, their interactions oscillated between arguments and quarrels, creating chaos within the Wilson family.
In the end, not only did she meet a tragic fate, but she also harmed Henry.
This time, she threatened Henry by going on a hunger strike and cutting her wrists, almost bringing herself to death. It was for William’s sake. How stupid!!
Despite being forcefully married by Henry, he treated her well. He couldn’t tolerate her harming herself, and this time, Evelyn went too far, completely wearing out Henry’s patience and playing herself into trouble.

In her previous life, she behaved like a madwoman, creating unreasonable troubles that resulted in her getting injured. She ended up staying in the hospital for a whole month.

This lifetime…
Evelyn felt the lingering pain in her body. Fortunately, she had learned her lesson.
She was still immersed in her memories when the man beside her suddenly climbed out of bed, dragging her into the bathroom and forcefully pinning her against the mirror.
The woman in the mirror was beautiful, but the exhaustion couldn’t be concealed. Evelyn’s eyes were bruised, days of fasting had left her eyes lifeless, devoid of any vitality. She looked more like a beautiful yet lifeless corpse.
“Look at yourself!.”
As Henry spoke, he took out gauze and wrapped it around the bleeding wound on Evelyn’s wrist.
The bleeding stopped, and the pain lessened.
Evelyn, watching Henry, who was still wrathful but delicately tending to her wounds, felt a mix of guilt and resentment. She blamed herself for being too foolish in her past life.
She hurt such a good man who loved her so much,, and tortured herself for that disgusting scoundrel.
Henry finished dressing the wound and looked up to see Evelyn in tears, a pang of discomfort raised in his heart.
He reached out towards her, but Evelyn instinctively dodged.
