Chapter 7
Chapter Seven.
Nelly’s POV.
The knocking continued, but I remained still, determined not to open the door. I didn’t know who was on the other side, and I didn’t want to risk opening the door to someone who might be dangerous.
I was new to this pack, and I didn’t want to make any missteps that might put me in danger. The knocking more insistent, but I held my ground, refusing to budge. I was safe behind the door, and I wasn’t about to take a chance on my safety.
W
“I know you are in there!” the voice on the other side of the door roared. I recognized the voice immediately it was Emily.
But what did she want from me? Was she here to cause trouble, or was she in trouble herself? My mind raced as I tried to figure out what to do. Should I open the door and see what she wanted, or should I ignore her and hope she went away? But what if Aisha was in trouble?
Either way, my heart was pounding and my palms were sweaty.
Without thinking, I opened the door and Emily stumbled into the room, her face contorted with rage. She stood there, her arms folded across her chest, her breathing. heavy and ragged. I closed the door behind her, my heart pounding in my chest.
My hands trembling, I rubbed them nervously against my gown.
“Hey,” I said, trying to keep my voice calm. But the word came out sounding more like a squeak.
Emily’s eyes blazed. “You think we are equals?” she spat.
I was completely at a loss. “What do you mean?” I asked her.
“What did Rex tell you about a sharp mouth?” She asked me, annoyed.
“That rule is for Kex alone,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
“I don’t know where Kex found you, but you’re nothing like us,” she sneered, wrinkling her nose in disgust. “You even stink.”
I let out a gasp as I looked down at myself.

“Are you mad?” I asked, raising my voice, heat rising in my chest.
“I think you would do yourself the grace of lowering your voice, you are talking to the future Luna.”
My eyes
widened in shock, future Luna? But there were no rumors that he had found his mate or that he was engaged.
She must have noticed the shock on my face. “Don’t be surprised my dear, I don’t know what he must have told you but you are nothing but his S ex toy,” she said with a sly smile.
I was about to reply when there was a knock at the door. “Come in,” I called out, trying to keep my voice steady.
A maid entered, her head bowed low. “My Lady, your presence is requested,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
She nodded, she cast me one hateful look before she turned and left the room, the door closing softly behind her.
As I stepped out into the hallway, my stomach rumbled, reminding me that I was overdue for a meal. I spotted Aisha a few feet away, and she quickly enveloped me in a tight hug.
“Where’s your room?” I asked, pulling away from her embrace.
She pointed down the hall to a door three rooms away from mine. “I’m right here if you need me,” she said, her voice reassuring. I smiled.
“Did you hear that Emily is Alpha Kex’s mate?” I muttered as we made our way to the
kitchen.
Aisha stopped in her tracks, turning to look at me with wide. eyes. “Who told you that?” she asked, sounding incredulous.
“Emily herself,” I replied.
Aisha burst into laughter, and I looked at her, confused. “She’s lying,” Aisha said, her face full of mirth. “She’s just trying to get under your skin.”
“How did you find out?” I asked, my curiosity getting the better of me.
Aisha grinned. “I overheard some of the maids gossiping,” she said. “They were talking about Alpha Kex’s deceased beta sister, and I asked who it was. They said it was Emily.”

Aisha nodded, her expression turning serious. “I know,” she said.
We arrived at the kitchen, and the head chef served us a plate of pasta. As we were about to head back to our rooms, I saw Aisha’s plate of food tip over.
I turned to look at her, and her eyes were wide with shock. I followed her gaze, and saw a young man standing nearby, his own plate of food also knocked over. Our eyes met, and I saw his eyes sparkle with recognition. It was then that I realized this was Aisha’s
mate.

And then Aisha ran off. “Aisha!” I called out, but she didn’t stop. She continued to run, her footsteps echoing off the walls.
“Aisha!” I called again, panic rising in my chest. But she was already gone, her figure disappearing around the corner.
