Chapter 6

“The Miller family hasn’t reached the point for you to leave with nothing,” Jerome said in response to Mikayla’s puzzled expression.

“I’ll have Mike draft a new agreement to provide you with some compensation.”

“No need,” Mikayla refused. “I didn’t marry you for your money.”

She didn’t lack money. Besides the shares her grandfather had left her, she could earn on her own.

She insisted on marrying Jerome because she was blinded by love.

Jerome said firmly, “I don’t care what you want. But to keep things good for both of us, the divorce paper will be changed the way I want it.”

Mikayla thought he was probably concerned that people would hear he left his ex–wife with nothing, consequently hurting his reputation.

Mikayla gave up arguing. “Fine, it’s up to you. See you at City Hall tomorrow.”

After saying this, Mikayla walked out and resumed packing her things.

Outside the door, Jerome frowned once again.

He wondered if Mikayla really called him just to talk about the divorce.

Once the matter was discussed, she promptly closed the door without saying much.

It was so different from when she used to talk a lot around him and ask him to go for walks together. On top of that, she used to like finding various reasons to be around when he was handling work affairs.

He wouldn’t be so opposed to coming home if she could remain quiet and trouble–free like this.

as she truly agreed to the divorce tomorrow, it would be one less headache for him.
